English Testing

TOEFL is not required for admission. During the International Student Orientation Program (ISOP), students will take an ESL placement test to determine their starting point.

However, if they have already taken the TOEFL within the last 2 years and received the following scores, students will not have to take ESL:

•  527 Paper-based test (PBT)
•  197 Computer-based test (CBT)
•  71 Internet-based test (iBT)

Please ask ETS to send official TOEFL scores directly to the College. Our school code is: 4738.

IELTS is accepted by Shoreline Community College.  If students receive a score of 5.5 or higher on the academic version, they will not have to take ESL.

STEP EIKEN results of Pre-1st degree exempt students from taking ESL or the ESL placement test.
